Annals of Oncology

Annals of Oncology, the official journal of the European Society of Medical Oncology, is in its third year of publication. In its inaugural issue, Dr Cavalli, the editor-in-chief, wrote that "the journal's inception is primarily the expression of a rapidly changing European reality." Furthermore, it "reflects a recognition of the rapidly expanding amount of oncologic research being carried out in Europe, and its primary goal is the expeditious publication of the results of this research." The journal's instructions to authors state thatAnnals of Oncologypublishes manuscripts that "describe new findings of particular significance in any area related to clinical oncology and clinically oriented basic cancer research." The journal's format consists of solicited editorials, full articles, short reports including negative phase II trials, special articles reviewing a specific field, reviews and commentaries, and a section entitled "Arena" for opinionated contributions.
