Forward and backward stimulated Brillouin scattering in a nonuniform plasma

The simultaneous forward and backward stimulated Brillouin scattering of a laser beam in a nonuniform plasma is studied. Analytical solutions of the steady-state nonlinear equations are presented, and the dependencies of the forward and backward scattering on the physical parameters and the noise boundary conditions are assessed.
