On making AgO electrode, only Ag powder electrode can be oxidized to AgO,but Ag2O powder electrode can not. Ag and Ag2O powder microelectrodes are made to measure their cyclic voltammetry plots and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. By analyzing the test results,we know that after Ag is oxidized to Ag2O,the silver electrode is divided into two layers. The outer layer is silver oxide rich in ion channels, which is convenient for OH-to enter; the inner layer is silver with good conductivity, which is convenient for the electron to output when Ag2O is further oxidized to AgO. The Ag2O electrode contains little ion channels, which is not conducive for more OH-to enter; the resistivity of the Ag2O is large, which is not conducive for the electron to output. These two reasons make the Ag2O electrode not to be oxidized to AgO.
