Atrial septal defect (ASD) and patent foramen ovale (PFO) are two common types of congenital heart malformations. Occluder, as transcatheter closure device, has been designed to close congenital heart defects. Various types of occluder are currently available commercially or within clinical trials. Adjustable and biodegradable are two development directions of occluder. Several types of occluder at home and abroad, including their shapes, characteristics, as well as clinical trials are introduced. In combination of some biodegradable polymer materials, the possibility and the significance of the biodegradable devices are discussed.
