MXene has drawn attention recently as promising photocatalyst for various applications. To photodegrade pharmaceuticals in an aqueous media while emulating sunshine, different heterostructured MXene showed excellent properties due to its structure, excellent conductivity, efficient functional groups, and wide range of derivatives. MXene-based photocatalysts outperform other photocatalysts in terms of photodegradation performance and long-term stability. In this review, the produced MXene heterostructured performed well in the removal of pharmaceuticals wastes and antibiotics discussed briefly. The existence of active functional groups on the surface of MXene is significant element determining the photodegradation performance of MXene-based photocatalysts.
