Observation of Breathing Solitons in a Three-Dimensional Phase Space in a Mode-Locked Fibre Laser

We report observations of breathing solitons in the mode-locked fibre laser that exhibit period-doubling limit-cycle and chaotic-like oscillations in a three-dimensional phase space which couples the wavelength shift of the soliton with its energy and bandwidth.
