摘要
T he primary nutrition source for ruminant animals is forage, but as settlements, food crops, and industry expand on previously forested areas, the availability becomes more scarce. One way to overcome the problem of forage availability is by using waste from agriculture, plantations, and the food industry.Oil palm frond is a byproduct that can mainly be used as feed for ruminants, but the high crude fiber content limits the digestibility level.Rusli et al. (2021) stated that the chemical composition oil palm frond comprised of 70% fibre and 22% soluble carbohydrates on a dry matter (DM) basis.Furthermore, that oil palm frond contain a high fiber fraction, namely 79.2% neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and 63.4% acid detergent fiber (ADF) (Santoso et al., 2019).The application of pre-treatment to oil palm frond is an important stage in converting this feed into value-added feed.Rusli et al.
