20711 Dynamic Characteristic of Structures with Bolted Joint : Effect of Thickness of Bolted Joint

Bolted joint is used for construction of many structures. Dynamic characteristics of structures with bolted joint are important for design of structures subjected to dynamic load. In this paper, the effects of thickness of bolted joint on dynamic characteristics of structure are examined. Using specimens with bolted joint, the damping ratio and the natural frequency for the first and the second vibration mode are measured It is found that the damping ratio increases when structure has bolted joint.
