Europe's obesity burden on the rise: WHO report

According to a report from WHO's Regional Office for Europe, released on May 3, 2022, the European region (comprising 53 countries in Europe and Central Asia) exhibits rates of overweight and obesity that are close to those in the Americas. “Obesity knows no borders [and] in Europe and Central Asia, no single country is going to meet the WHO Global non-communicable diseases (NCDs) target of halting the rise of obesity” said Hans Henri P Kluge (WHO Regional Director for Europe, Copenhagen, Denmark) in a press briefing.
