α-Alkylation of Carbonyl Compounds by Addition ofAlcohols to Enol Acetates

Significance The authors have developed a new procedure for the α-alkylation of aldehydes and ketones that involves the direct use of alcohols and enol acetates in the presence of either InI 3 , GaBr 3 or FeBr 3 as catalyst. The reaction is applicable to various types of alcohols and enol acetates.
