摘要
A new type of Mach-Zehnder modulator based on optical bias is designed,and the organic polymer DR1/PMMA is chosen as the ridge waveguide material.Variations of the effective indexes with the structure parameters which include the width w,the height b,the thickness of core waveguide d and the thickness of upper and lower cladding are analyzed by the effective index method(EIM).Combining with a single microstrip electrode modulating and the parameters of the ridge waveguide,velocity-match between lightwave and microwave can be achieved.The optical field and power are simulated by BPM using the above optimized parameters of the structure.An asymmetric path ridge waveguide for an organic polymer Mach-Zehdner modulator has been successfully designed and achieves 89.84°for the initial phase difference between the two arms and 27 dB for the extinction ratio.
