Objective To examine the expression of Rac1 and Pak1 protein in gastric cancer with invasion and metastasis. Methods Gastric cancer tissue from 60 patients and adjacent normal tissue from 20 patients were collected, the protein expression of Rac1 and Pak1 level was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The expression of Rac1 and Pak1 protein in gastric cancer were significantly higher than that in the surrounding normal tissue(P0.05);the expression of Rac1 and Pak1 were positively correlated with tumor differentiation, depth of invasion,Lauren classification and lymph node metastasis. Conclusion The expression of Rac1 and Pak1 is positively correlated with gastric cancer invasion and metastasis, and they may be used as novel marker for the biological behavior of gastric cancer.
