A probe into the relationship between the shaping of the modern personality and the socialist market economy

Marx holds that there are three stages in the social development or evolution, and accordingly.personality is said to have three froms or types: dependent personality, subjective (or independent)personality and the personality of freedom. The shaping of modern personality here means to form the subjective personality conforming to the market economy. On the other hand, market economy exerts both active and negative effects on the shaping of the personality. So under the socialist market economy, we should promote greatly the construction of the socialist spiritual civilization, try the best to offer appropriate directions to the shaping of the modern personality in order that the two might develop in a coordinate way.
