Phenolic Acids of Lonicerae Japonicae Caulis

Objective: To explore the bioactive components of Lonicerae Japonicae Caulis and to study the phenolic acids of the plant. Method: Compounds were isolated and purified by solvent extraction ethanol extraction,repeated column chromatography on silicagel and Sephadex LH-20. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of physical characteristics and spectral data. Result: Six phenolic compounds were obtained and identified as methyl p-hydroxycinnamate( 1),ethyl caffeate( 2),methyl caffeate( 3),ferulic acid( 4),caffeic acid( 5),and chlorogenic acid( 6). Conclusion: Compounds 1,3 and 4 were isolated from Lonicerae Japonicae Caulis for the first time.
