Voltage-gated sodium channels(VGSCs) of cell membrane, key molecules mediating the rising phase of the action potential, are composed of a large α-subunit and one or several different β-subunits. The centre is highly selectively hydrophilic that sodium ions are partly permeable. In recent years, Voltage-gated sodium channels have been reported playing an important role in the cell membrane potential, maintaining cell ion steady state and cell proliferation and apoptosis in different cell types, and they are closely related to cancer cells micrometastasis and neuropathic pain. This article analyzed the molecule structure and function of voltage-gated sodium channels, expounded the relationship between the sodium channels and the micrometastasis of cancer cells and neuropathic pain, introduced the research of several common sodium channel diseases, and emphasized the influence of the anomaly to human health.Along with the more in-depth study of the voltage-gated sodium channels, the molecular mechanism of abnormal ion channels will be clearer; meanwhile, it will provide a theoretical basis for the research of physiology, pharmacology and pathology, and explore new ways to cure the abnormality disease of ion channels.
