Research on the Reconfigurable Antennas

Advances in the research of reconfigurable antennas are discussed in this paper. Some typical structures of reconfig-urable antennas are introduced. It is possible to reconfigure the antenna by changing the internal structure or dimension so as to change the current distribution and the operating characteristics of the antenna. Most of the antennas are reconfigured by using switches. Generally, reconfigurable antenna can be classified by their functions into frequency reconfigurable antenna, pattern reconfigurable antenna and frequency-pattern reconfigurable antenna.
