Effects of Total Isoflavones of Pueraria on Bone Mineral Density and Histomorphology in Ovariectomized Rats

Objective To observe the effects of total isof lavones of Pueraria on bone mineral density and Histomorphology in ovariectomized rats,in order to provides proofs from the laboratory for the prevention and cure of post-menopause osteoporosis. Method Rats were ovariectomized bilaterally under anesthesia to establish animal models of osteoporosis and orally administrated with TIP 100and 50 and 25 mg/Kg/d respectively for 3 months.The effects of total isoflavones of Pueraria on bone mineral density and Histomorphology in ovariectomized rats were observed.Results As compared with those model control group,femur bone weight,the density of bone mineral in the central part and end part of the femur,content of bone calcium and body weight of the rats in the TIP 100 and 50 mg/kg/d groups were significantly higher(P0.05).Conclusions Fairly dose pueraria isoflavo can obviously prevent and cure the osteoporosis in ovariectomized rats.
