Activation of the Surface of Talc and the Impact of Using Activated Talc on the Newsprint Quality

Activation of the surface of talc was carried out. Compared with the ordinary talc and traditional modified talc, the activated talc can greatly reduce the deterioration of the strength property of the paper but cause the brightness decrease and opacity increase slightly when they are used at the same dosage. In this paper, different types of starch were used for the activation of the surface of the talc. The impact of the activated talc on the newsprint quality and its function mechanism were studied by SEM observation of the newsprint containing the activated talc as filler.
