Analysis of Multimode Fiber Bending Loss

Based on the theory of propagation mode in optical fiber,the instability of the output power from a multimode fiber is analyzed. A numerical simulation shows that the bending loss of a circular multimode fiber becomes larger as the curve radius of the fiber is less than 5 mm. This result is helpful to design a mode_disturbing_device which is used to stabilize the propagation mode in a multimode fiber.
