Objective:To establish an animal model of vulvar squamous cell carcinoma(VSCC) and its lymph nodes metastasis in rabbits for providing suitable animal model which used for lymphatic metastasis study. Methods:Small tissues of VX2 were implanted in bilateral labia majora among 40 rabbits. The tumor volume in vulva and enlarged inguinal lymph nodes metastasis were measured by high frequency color doppler ultrasound device at the time of 7 、10 、14 、18 、22 and 26 days respectively after VX2 pieces were implanted. Then the rabbits were sacrificed and dissected regularly and tissues of vulvar tumor and lymph nodes were pathological examined. Results:The survival rate of tumor implantation in vulvar was 100% (40/40). Rapid growth of tumor volume were observed at the time of 7 、10 、14 and 18 days after implantation. Enlarged inguinal lymph nodes occurred 10 days after inoculation. At 14 days, the metastasis rate of inguinal lymph nodes was 100%. Maximum TGR(tumor growth rate ) both in vulvar tumor and inguinal lymph nodes were observed at 18 days after implantation. Conclusions:The animal model of VSCC and inguinal lymph nodes metastasis in rabbits could be easily established, and this model would be subsequently used to explore the diagnostic method of lymph metastasis.
