Bromamine acid (BAA) can be used by Sphingomonas xenophaga QYY as sole carbon, nitrogen and energy source. Calcium alginate entrapment method was selected to immobilize the cells. Characteristics and kinetics of biodegradation process for immobilization cells were investigated, with the optimal conditions of inoculation 10mL of immobilization cells; pH 7, temperature 30℃ and shaking speed 100r/min. Under the optimal conditions, the biodegradation of BAA can be described as Haldane model.
