Development of Drawing Thermoforming Process of IMD Film

Based on the drawing of sheet metal and traditional thermoforming processes of IMD films,drawing thermoforming process applicable to IMD films was developed.A set of thermoforming trial mold was designed to try on the forming of polyethylen terephthalate(PET)film.The results showed the process had great advantage on keeping thickness uniform,patterns location and controlling the corners wrinkles.The drawing thermoforming process was suitable for IMD films of small products such as mobile shells.
