Progress of research on digital watermarking techniques applied to multimedia

As an effective method to provide copyright protection for digital media,digital watermarking has received considerable attention all over the world in recent years.This paper reviews the development of watermarking techniques and discusses some issues as follows:(1)the basic communication model of watermarking,(2)the requirement for watermarking,(3)possible applications of watermarking,(4)analysis and classification of watermarking,including the basic concept,algorithms,performance and development tendency which are analyzed in detail for each type,(5)key technologies on watermarking,(6)open issues and possible future research directions.
