The copolymerization of the starch grafting acrylamide was studied in aqueous two-phase of PEG as dispersion medium and(NH4)2S2O8(abbreviation APS)/NaHSO3 initiation system as initiator. The effect of initiator concentration, the ratio of initiator, temperature and preparatory initiation time on copolymerization was investigated. The optimum conditions are as follows: PEG mass fraction for 10%,n[(NH4)2S2O8]∶n(AM)=0.001 2∶1,n[(NH4)2S2O8]∶n(NaHSO3)=1∶2.0,30 ℃,preparatory initiation time 10 min, reaction time 9 h.Under these conditions, the production of monomer conversion is 95.39%,grafting ratio is 113.03%,grafting efficiency is 63.91%.
