Prosthetic treatment with fixed dental prostheses is necessary to ensure a harmony between restorations and gingival tissues. The described biotolerance is a direct function of periodontal health and precision manufacturing. A stable and healthy gingiva is a guarantee for a successful and aesthetic clinical result in a long-term.Different tooth preparation techniques for fixed restoration are known. The choice of appropriate technique and finish line is related to a number of individual factors as well as functional, prophylactic and esthetic indications. In 2008 Ignazio Loi described and introduced the protocol of “biologically oriented preparation technique” (BOPT), which includes tooth preparation, deepithelization of gingival sulcus (gingitage) and placement of specifically shaped temporary restorations. The method provides an opportunity to create a new emergence profile and to achieve increasment of the thickness of free gingival margin, stability and adaptation of the soft tissues. The aim of the dissertation is to prove the advantage of biologically oriented preparation technique in prosthetic treatment with full coverage crowns and to evaluate the clinical results and periodontal behaviour.
