Generative Artificial Intelligence Use in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy: Transference With the Artificial Third

This paper explores the implications of using artificial intelligence (AI) tools in transactional analysis psychotherapy. It makes the case for engaging with AI as a creative tool to stimulate self-reflection and dialogue between client and therapist rather than either as a replacement for or a simple administrative aid to the therapist. A case vignette and a model of AI transference is offered to illustrate the potential of this technique in working to illuminate script protocol and explore impasses.
