Dual role of arsenite in hydrolysis and post-hydrolysis fluorescence sensing of selective pH-dependent probes

Arsenite not only selectively hydrolyses the imine-based probe 1, but also shows selective emission with the aldehyde generated from the hydrolysis reaction. The reactivity is compared with other six probes to correlate the p K a of these probes.
