Objective To evaluate the osteogenic function of hyaluronangel combined with periodontal ligament stem cells on reconstruction of alveolar cleft in rabbit. Methods Alveolar cleft was surgically made in 24 rabbits , They were treated with HAG/PDLSCs in the experimental groups. Single periodontal ligament stem cells and single HAG carrier application served as control groups. Those with nothing added to the bone defects were regarded as blank controls. Histopathologic method , immunohistochemical staining , and histomorphometry were used to evaluate the osteogenic effects in the above groups. Results There was no significant difference between the control group and blank control group. However , significant difference was verified in the HAG/PDLSCs group. Conclusion It is verified that HAG/PDLSCs can promote osteogenesis in rabbit alveolar cleft reconstruction. PDLSC has the positive functions in alveolar osteogenesis.
