摘要
ABSTRACT A minimum tillage planting machine called the Chisel-Planter has been designed, constructed and tested for use in reducing erosion on the steep slopes of Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington. The drill uses vibrating chisel shanks to clear residue and to provide a seedbed. Liquid fertilizer is metered into the furrow at the bottom of the chisel points and about 20 to 40 mm below the seed. A packer wheel covers the fertilizer and firms the soil. Double disk openers place the seed in the furrow behind each chisel. Wheat yields have been nearly the same to 5% less than conventionally seeded fields while erosion was reduced by 75%.
