摘要
A critical objective recently facing the entire industry on this planet is to construct a sustainable industrial development. The possible way is provided by implementing process intensification, which provides real advantages in production processes, significantly reducing unit operation size, increasing whole plant efficiency, reducing energy consumption, shrinking capital investment, reducing waste disposal, and boosting feed material conversion into various valuable products. Membrane technologies contribute to process intensification's objectives due to their potential to convert conventional technology to achieve significant improvement of industrial processes. Conventional industrial techniques in the field of separation were replaced to membrane processes, which were widely reported positively impacting in the multi-area of industrial operation. This paper provides the ability and compatibility of the membrane to be implemented the process intensification strategies. Some cases of realization of process intensification in membrane technology have been discussed. Last but not least, the process integration of conventional membrane with advanced membrane unit has also been reviewed as one of the essential parts of process intensification.
