A novel heat resistant poly (phthalazione ether sulfone keton) (PPESK) matrix material filled with short pitch based carbon fibers ( CF ) was prepared. The effect of some influence parameters such as CF's process and content, surface process and sliding speed on the friction and wear properties of this material were studied, SEM was employed to study the worn surface. The results showed that the addition of CF is effective in reducing the wear and friction of PPESK. A minimum value in wear rate existed at a CF mass fraction of 10%. The major wear mechanism of PPESK includes adhesive wear, grinding particle wear and abrasive wear, but that of composite predominately is adhesive wear. Meanwhile, it possesses good heat resistant mechanics properties.
