In view of the problems in bonding metal sheets in the manufacture of laminated objects, a technique of vacuum hot pressing diffusion welding was presented. Diffusion welding experiments of stainless steel sheets were carried out with pure copper as interlayer at a temperature of 870~1?020 ℃. The results show that the strength of the welding joint is increased and the hot deformation heightened with the increase of the welding temperature and pressure. The shear strength of the welding joint with copper interlayer is higher than that of the joint without the interlayer. Moreover, the shear strength increases with the decrease of the thickness of the interlayer.
