Preparation of 10-hydroxycamptothecin Inhalation Powder Containing Ammonium Bicarbonate

OBJECTIVE:To improve the in vitro deposition performance of 10-hydroxycamptothecin(HPCT) inhalation powder.METHODS:HPCT inhalation powder was prepared with spray drying technology,and the density,specific area,surface features,diameter and in vitro deposition were investigated when ammonium bicarbonate was incorporated into the formulation.RESULTS:The spray dried product turned out to be ultra-light,large and porous particle,with tapped density of 0.015 g·mL-1,specific area of 19.81 m2·g-1 and volume mean diameter of 15.64 μm.The in vitro depositon fraction of the dry powder inhalations was improved from 18.0% to 51.6%.CONCLUSION:Ammonium bicarbonate can greatly improve the in vitro deposition performance of HPCT inhalation powder.
