Optimization of extraction process of icariin from Epimedium by uniform design

OBJECTIVE To optimize the extraction techniques of icariin from Epimedium L.by uniform design.METHODS The content of icariin was determined by a reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography to investigate the extraction process of icariin.The extraction techniques of icariin was optimized by employing the uniform design method.RESULTS The best extraction process of icariin was obtained as following: 80% ethanol as the solvent,solvent volume 20 mL and extraction time 20 min.CONCLUSION The extraction ratio of icariin is higher according to the above extracting process.
