PC096: Gingival recession treatment at the lack of attached gingiva: a case report

Free gingival graft (FGG) is a gold standard, which increases amount of attached gingiva. Connective tissue graft and laterally advance flap (LAP) is proper choice for root coverage. The aim of this study is evaluate the treatment of a tooth recession with coronally advanced flap and connective tissue graft with combination with free gingival graft (FGG). Clinical Procedure: A 30 year-old female patient who had FGG failed previously, was referred to Abant Izzet Baysal University, Department of Periodontology with complaints of gingival bleeding problems. Gingival recession at buccal aspect of right maxillary first molar tooth. Lack of attached gingiva and gingival inflammation were observed in the clinical observation. Phase I periodontal therapy was performed including scaling and root planing with motivation for oral care. After proper oral hygiene maintained, free gingival graft procedure was performed on this site to augmented keratinized gingiva on buccal aspect of tooth. Afterwards 3 months from the first surgery, laterally advanced flap and connective tissue graft had applied for root coverage. Outcomes: The initial healing was uneventful. Beside this, increased keratinized tissue and favorable vestibular sulcular depth was achieved. There was not seem any esthetic complaint regard to patient's demand. Complete root surface coverage, sufficient attached gingiva and vestibule sulcus depth were achieved and maintained for 1 year.
