Objective To investigate the impact of Lumivudine to HBeAg seroconversion and HBV DNA level in serum and YMDD resistant mutation. Methods To examine ALT and HBeAg seroconversionl before and after patients treated with Lumivudine for 3 months, 6 months and 9 months respectively. HBV DNA level and YMDD resistant mutants were detected by the method of PCR Microplate hybridization-ELISA. Results In 47 cases, 74% of them were HBV DNA negative (DNA level1pg/ml serum)after treated with Lumivudine for 9 months, and their ALT level were normal. 17% of the patients occurred HBeAg and HBeAb seroconversion (HBeAg negative, HBeAb positive),15% of them occurred only HBeAg seroconversion. 19% of the 47 patients were Lumivudine resistant, one occurred after treated for 3 months, 3 for 6 months, and 5 for 9 months. 3 YMDD resistant mutants disappeared after enhanced Lumivudine therapy, but one mutant strain did not changed. Conclusion 74% of the HBV DNA positive patients were HBV DNA negative (DNA level1pg/ml serum) after treated with Lumivudine for 9 months and 17% after them were HBeAg seroconversion . 19% after the patients were YMDD resistant. The occurrence of HBeAg seroconversion greatly connected with HBV DNA level which is lower than 100pg/ml in serum.
