Development and Prospective of Hybrid Girder Cable-Stayed Bridge

Shortly after the concept of hybrid girder cable-stayed bridge was developed, the type of the bridge has found wide application in Europe and Japan. In the 1990s, the bridge came to attract the interest of Chinese bridge engineers and was then put into application in China. In this paper, a summarized account of the development process and technical features of the bridge are presented, several issues related to the bridge that require deep-going research are proposed, and the future trend of the development of the bridge is prospected as well.
