In order to study the actual working condition of the two-way curved arch bridge which is strengthened by sticking steel plates, load tests were done before and after a 3×31mreinforced concrete two-way curved arch bridge was strengthened, and the Dr.Bridge software was adopted to establish the model of the bridge and carry out calculation. The contrastive analysis of the deflection and strain values before and after the strengthening demonstrates that the deflection of the structure declines 27.4% after the strengthening, and the strain value decreases 42.0%,which implies that the strengthening with steel plates improves the flexural stiffness and strength of the main arch ribs. The checking calculation proves that the limited load bearing capacity of the structure meets the requirements of the Road-Ⅱof vehicle load grade, achieving the goal of improving the bearing capacity of the bridge.
