Enzyme electrode have been formed with glucose oxidase (GOD) immobilized in chitosan matrix, by a gel method. The effect of experimental conditions, such as the degradation of the chitosan, the concentration and the amount of glutaraldehyde solution, and the amount of immobilized GOD on the electrode was investigated to optimize the immobilization enzyme method. The amount of glutaraldehyde and the dipping time of the platinum wire in enzyme membrane solution could be adjusted according to the viscosity of the chitosan solution, which could avoid the effect of the degradation of chitosan on the electrode performance. The glucose biosensor with approximate performance could be constructed.
