The aim of the paper was to assess the level of energy poverty in Poland. In recent years the attempts were made to define this phenomenon and treat it as a separate concept in relation to income poverty. Energy poverty is a difficulty in meeting basic energy needs in the place of living at a reasonable price. The article uses data from the Central Statistical Office and the Institute for Structural Research. The problem of energy poverty in Poland is important – in 2014, 9.6% of households were at risk of energy poverty. Energy poverty is a multi-faceted problem that has many negative consequences, which are harmful to human health and life.
