Effects of multimodal analgesia on postoperative immune function: a review

The multimodal analgesia has become an important component of multimodal rehabilitation programs for postoperative patients. Effective multimodal postoperative analgesia could relieve the body’s stress response, reduce immune suppression, and may help the body’s prognosis. There are different effects with different combinations of multimodal analgesia on immune function. The influences of multimodal analgesia on immune function in postoperative patients is reviewed in this paper. Key words: Multimodal analgesia; Pain, postoperative; Immune function
