Menopausal Age, Hormone Therapy, and Risk of Psoriasis: A Prospective Cohort Study applying Inverse Probability of Treatment Weighting Analysis

We read with interest the recent article by Hui-Wen Yang et al., “Hormone Therapy and Increased Risk of Psoriasis in Reproductive-age and Postmenopausal Women: A Nationwide Cohort Study and Target Trial Emulation”. The authors claim that hormone therapy (HT) increases psoriasis risk, nearly doubling it in reproductive-age women and raising it 1.5 times in postmenopausal women. We challenge this conclusion, as the study fails to account for critical variables related to endogenous estrogen exposure, such as age at natural menopause (ANM) and reproductive years (RYs), likely confound the observed association.
