Single-Mode Amplification in a Multimode Fiber Regenerative Amplifier

We show that regenerative amplification enables a femtosecond fiber amplifier with an unprecedented combination of features: single-mode operation ( M 2 ≤ 1.3) despite multimode (100 μm ) fiber, high-gain (> 55 dB), and high pulse energy (> 50 μ J).
