A Method for Estimating True Length of Targets Based on Track Information and Wideband High-Resolution Range Profile

The geometry of the target can be the most intuitive feature of target recognition. The broadband measurement radar can only get the high-resolution range profile (HRRP) of the non-cooperative target, but cannot directly measure their true length. In this paper, a target true length estimation method based on track information and high-resolution range profile is proposed. First of all, using the edge sharpening method of the target high-resolution range profile based on difference calculator and the adaptive threshold optimization algorithm based on the imaging signal-to-noise ratio, the radial length of high-resolution range profile is extracted. Then use the track data measured by the radar to establish a geometric model to calculate the line-of-sight angle of the target axis relative to the radar, and the length of the target can be reversed without the support of inertial navigation data. The experimental results show that the method can estimate the target length at better precision under the non-cooperrative task scene.
