Graft copolymerization of ammonium acrylate onto cotton fibers was studied with persulfate and sodium hyposulfite as initiator. The effect of sequence and dosage of persulfate used as initiator on the graft yield is examined. Firstly adding ammonium persulfate and secondly adding potassium persulfate can overcome counter-polymerization of oxygen and attain very high conversion and graft ratio of monomers.
