Clinical Study of the Vastus Medialis Oblique Muscle Strength Training Combined with Sansesan to for Athletes with Excess Lateral Pressure Syndrome of Patellofemoral Joint
To observe the clinical effect of vastus medialis oblique muscle strength training combined with the Sansesan on the athlete with excess lateral pressure syndrome of patellofemoral joint. Methods:From June 2006,strength training of vastus medialis oblique muscle combined with the Sansesan were performed on 25 athletes with excess lateral pressure syndrome of patellofemoral joint within 36 months. The patellofemoral joint pain during downstairs walking and the Lysholm score were observed before and 4 weeks after the therapy. Statistical analysis and comparison were used to investigate the benefits of treatment. Results:Athletes with excess lateral pressure syndrome of patellofemoral showed significantly reduced pain after 4 weeks therapy compared with pre-treatment. Meanwhile the increased Lysholm scores were also found for the post-treatment group. Conclusion:The vastus medialis oblique muscle strength training combined with the Sansesan can effectively alleviate the pain of the athlete with excess lateral pressure syndrome of patellofemoral joint and improve the total function of the knee joint. From clinical prospective, this therapy is easy to operate and has less side effect.
