Study of Cyclodextrin Zinc(II) Fluorescent Reagent Used in Water Analysis

A new water-soluble fluorescent reagent HQAS modified β-CD(HQAS-1-CD) has been synthesized.The reagent could form a complex with zinc ion to cause its fluorescence enhancing.Several metal ions,such as Na+,K+,Ca2+,Mg2+,Mn2+,Fe2+ and Co2+,show little interference to the fluorescence response to Zn2+.A new spectrofluorimetric method for the determination of trace zinc using this reagent was developed.The linear range is from 0 to 13μg/L and the detection limit is 0.57μg/L.The method was used to determine trace zinc in mineral water sample with satisfactory results.
