A High-luminous Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp and Phosphors for a Wide-color-gamut LCD

The two methods to balance the luminance with the wide color-gamut were studied. One is optimizing the combination of phosphors and the other is improving the phosphor efficiency. The new phosphor combination has been introduced into CCFLs. And the new WCG-CCFL has 17% higher luminous efficiency and has better luminance-maintenance characteristics. Co-doping of Tb3+ with Eu3+ improves the luminance-saturation behavior of YVO4:Eu3+.
