Advances in the research of mucosal immune adjuvant

Mucosal immune system is the first line of defense against foreign invaders. Mucosal and systemic immune response can be induced by attenuated vaccine. However, the digestive juice through the alimentary tract often degrades the vaccine, so the amount of the antigen has to be increased in clinical practice. In order to improve organism mucosal immunity and system immune response against the antigen, different kinds of mucosal immune adjuvant have been studied. The article gives a detail summarization on the recent studies about mucosal immune adjuvant.
