Tensile tests are carried out in Fe 15 2Mn 6Si 8 3Cr 7Ni、Fe 16Mn 5Si 9Cr 4Ni and 317L stainless steel. It is shown that Fe based shape memory alloys exhibite apparently pseudoelasticity. There are apparent hysteresis loop between unloading and reloading stress strain curve of Fe based shape memory alloy and large non linear springback strain e sb during unloading. e sb and pseudoelastic strain e SE increase with increasing total strain e 1 and e SE saturate when e t is high. The maxium pseudoelastic strain e SE of alloy 1 is 0 75%. In alloy 2 e SE is not higher than 0 45%. The movement of the interface bwtween stress induced martensite and parent phase determines the pseudoelasticity. there are two orgions of the pseudoelasticity: the chemical driving force (Δ G ) and the elastic constrained force of the surrounding parent phase. pseudoelasticity are not influenced by pre existing thermal martensite and the intensity of parent phase
